Chivas seeks to avoid a hecatomb vs. Cruz Azul and summons up even Chicharito Hernandez
Javier Hernandez was included in the squad to face Cruz Azul, as Chivas wants to avoid a catastrophe that would cost Gabriel Milito his job
Chivas are determined to avoid a massacre at all costs this Saturday when they host Cruz Azul at Akron Stadium, and for that reason they decided to include controversial striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez on their list of available players.
Guadalajara know perfectly well that the only way to replicate the great second half that allowed them to revive from a 0-3 against Tijuana last Friday to rescue a miraculous 3-3 draw, is to bet all the marbles against Cruz Azul, and for that reason, given some absences, they decided to turn to the former star of Manchester United and Real Madrid, among others.
For that reason, it was not so surprising to see Chicharito Hernandez among the players who can be taken into account, becoming the main novelty in the list of called-up players, where the striker could make his debut in the Apertura tournament 2025, where Guadalajara is currently in second to last place in the standings.
Without a doubt, the moment is not ideal, but the reality is that Rebano Sagrado must scrape together points at all costs and they know that the duel against Cruz Azul will not be easy, since the cement workers have shown a lot of cohesion and ability in their game, which makes them a high-ranking opponent.
Injuries have not stopped him
Throughout his return to Mexican soccer, Javier Hernandez has been greatly affected by injuries that have made Chivas management think about the true benefit of having a player with this resume in their ranks, since his personality ends up being a burden.
Now he has the opportunity to show himself again, after he was injured in the first round of last July 19 while warming up and in the end this physical problem cost him five more matches, to the point that he would make his presentation on matchday seven against the cement workers.
Chicharito has thus accumulated 42 days out of activity in the current tournament, which arguably hasn't affected Chivas much, but if we bet on his consistency, we'll surely see Hernandez eager to show that he's not finished and that he could still be very useful to Gabriel Milito's project.
With the return of Javier Hernandez, the bad news is the order of the day and now Richard Ledezma and Daniel Aguirre will not be able to play against Cruz Azul due to muscle discomfort that plagued them during the match against Tijuana.
While Alan Pulido and Jose Castillo will continue to be on cotton wool after the injury that kept them off the field in the last day's duel against Tijuana.
