Floyd Mayweather Jr. could have been knocked down by Crawford, according to Naseem Hamed
The former world champion highlighted all of Terence Crawford's qualities. Hamed believes Crawford could have knocked out Mayweather Jr.
Terence Crawford was one of the great boxers who recently hung up his gloves. “Bud” finished his career with an unforgettable record, never losing a single fight. Naseem Hamed believes Crawford could have been Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s "kryptonite."
"Prince" Hamed, the renowned British fighter who won world titles in the WBO, IBF, and WBC, believes Terence Crawford was a different kind of fighter. Besides "Bad's" intelligence in the ring, Hamed highlighted the American boxer's strength.
"You know what? For me, he always had something different from the rest of the fighters, not just technically, or in his boxing brain, his ring IQ, but he had a very special inner strength, a strength that came from within. It was physical. You'd see him grab someone and throw them from one side to the other, guys four or five times bigger than him," Hamed said in an interview with talkSPORT.
Terence Crawford finished his career in the ring with a perfect record. The American boxer won all 42 fights he participated in. 31 of those victories were by knockout. Crawford was a champion in 5 divisions.
Crawford would knock out Mayweather
With his undefeated record, comparisons between fighters quickly arise. Another boxer who ended his career as "invincible" was the iconic Floyd Mayweather Jr. Naseem Hamed believes that Terence Crawford would be capable of knocking out "Money" in a hypothetical fight. "I don't know. I've never been asked this question before, and I'd never really thought about it that way. But there's a possibility that I could knock Floyd out... Although, mind you, Floyd in his prime had an extremely high level of skill. That's the big issue here," explained the former boxer. Floyd Mayweather Jr. won all 50 of his professional fights between 1996 and 2017. 27 of his victories were by knockout. Like Terence Crawford, Mayweather was a champion in five different weight divisions.
