Former Rayados de Monterrey coach changes team and will coach in the UEFA Champions League
Martín Demichelis is the new coach of RB Leipzig after his time at Mallorca and his previous stage at Rayados de Monterrey in Liga MX.
Argentine Martín Demichelis, former coach of Rayados de Monterrey, was officially announced as the new technical director of RB Leipzig, one of the leading clubs in the Bundesliga and which will compete this year in the UEFA Champions League.
The South American strategist arrives from Real Mallorca, a team with which he could not avoid relegation, and signs a contract with the German team until 2028, in a move that marks a new chapter in his career on European benches.
RB Leipzig bets on Demichelis' international experience
The German club highlighted the global profile of the Argentine coach, highlighting his journey in different leagues around the world, including his time in Mexican soccer with Rayados de Monterrey, in addition to his experience in South America and Europe.
“With Martín Demichelis we will have a coach who, as a player and coach, has had high-level experiences in Europe, South America and North America,” the Leipzig sports manager said in a statement. “This international perspective combines very well with the global perspective of RB Leipzig,” added Marcel Schäfer.
The Leipzig board trusts that his tactical vision and international career are key to competing in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
From Mallorca to the Bundesliga: a change after relegation
Demichelis had arrived at Mallorca last February, but was unable to avoid the Balearic team's relegation. Despite this, RB Leipzig decided to activate their interest by taking advantage of a termination clause in his contract.
Before his time in Spain, the Argentine coach coached Bayern Munich's second team, in addition to passing through River Plate and Mexican soccer with Rayados de Monterrey, where he gained relevant experience in Liga MX.
A technician with experience between Europe and America
Demichelis' career as a coach has been characterized by his presence in different football contexts. From his training in Germany to his development in Argentina and Mexico, the coach has built a profile with an international focus.
His arrival at RB Leipzig represents a new opportunity to consolidate himself in elite European football, now with the challenge of competing in high-level tournaments such as the Champions League.
