Hansi Flick raises alarms with Lamine Yamal: "I don't know when he will play again"
Lamine Yamal has suffered a recurrence of his pubic injury and will miss several matches in La Liga and the Champions League
Lamine Yamal is injured again at Barcelona and Hansi Flick raised alarms by expressing that he does not know when he will be able to return.
The '10' of the Barca team relapsed his pubic discomfort against the team Parisian, and Flick has declined to say when he expects his return.
The German coach stressed that he doesn't know if he'll be ready for the match against Real Madrid in La Liga.
“With these types of injuries, you have to wait and see, because it's not a muscle injury. We don't know if he'll be back in two, three, or four weeks. I don't know if he'll be ready for El Clasico. He'll work with the recovery team. He'll take it step by step, and we'll see how he evolves,” he added.
In any case, the German coach has denied that Lamine Yamal played the last Champions League match injured. "He felt fine. If we'd had any doubts, he wouldn't have played against PSG," he assured.
Flick will give Lamine Yamal more control at Barcelona
The Barcelona coach admitted that he will protect Yamal more when he returns to the team and have him in the most important parts of the season.
“It's my responsibility to give him the right amount of minutes when he returns and we will do so based on what we see on the pitch.”
Flick said he did not regret accusing Spain coach Luis de la Fuente of not looking after Lamine Yamal, a controversy he considers “old hat” and to which he did not want to give any further importance.
“These things happen in the world of football. I have experienced it from the other side (as coach of Germany). Great players defend the colors of their national team and they must be protected, but not just by their clubs, but also by the federations; we must all work together,” he commented.
