The manufacturer confirmed the recall of 325,588 units of this popular minivan after detecting a problem that can prevent the operation of the reversing camera, one of the most used assistance systems when parking or maneuvering.

The measure involves vehicles corresponding to the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 model years. Although Honda considers that only a small part of these units will present the defect, safety regulations require that all vehicles that could be affected be reviewed.
Moisture can render the camera unusable
Research conducted by Honda found that the source of the problem is in the rear camera assembly. Over time, water can seep into the component and reach the electronic board that allows the image to be transmitted.
When this humidity causes corrosion in the internal circuits, the camera stops sending a signal to the vehicle's screen.
As a result, when selecting reverse gear the driver could encounter a completely black screen, losing an important help in detecting pedestrians, cyclists, children or other obstacles.
The problem arose during assembly
As explained by the company, the defect is related to the camera's manufacturing process. Engineers determined that an incorrect specification in the hole for one of the fixing screws, combined with possible misalignments during assembly, generated a stress greater than that supported by the plastic casing.
This condition made it easier for water to enter the interior of the module and, over time, ended up affecting the electronic components.
Although the recall affects 325,588 vehicles, Honda estimates that only about 0.8% will develop the fault. That represents about 2,604 units. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States considers that the risk is sufficient to justify a preventive campaign.
Honda will change the camera at no cost
The solution is to completely replace the rear camera assembly on all Odysseys included in the campaign. As part of the change, Honda will stop using the Magna-made component and install a new chamber developed by Sony, designed to prevent the ingress of water that caused the problem.
As of June 25, 2026, the brand had received 1,648 warranty claims related to this situation. However, he assured that there are no reports of accidents, injuries or deaths associated with this defect.
Notification to dealers began on July 2, 2026, and letters to owners will begin to be sent on August 24, 2026. Customers can visit any authorized Honda dealer in the United States to have the repair done completely free of charge.
Additionally, those who have doubts about whether their vehicle is part of the campaign will be able to verify the status of their Odyssey using the VIN number on the official Honda or NHTSA portals.
