The Attorney General Office seeks for the boxer to continue his judicial process in prison
The Attorney General's Office challenged the conditional release of former world boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., which a judge granted him to carry out his trial for the crimes of arms trafficking and alleged ties to the Sinaloa Cartel.
According to information from the local press, the Mexican Attorney General's Office seeks the son of Julio Cesar Chavez, considered the best Mexican boxer in history, returns to prison.
The appeal was filed by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime; Now a Collegiate Court will have to analyze the measure.
On August 23, a judge in Hermosillo, Sonora, decided to link Chavez to trial for the crimes of organized crime and arms trafficking, however, he also ordered bail, through which the former holder of the World Boxing Council middleweight belt was released from prison.
Chavez was captured on July 2 in the United States after losing a fight in Anaheim (USA) to YouTuber Jake Paul. His deportation to Mexico, where he had an arrest warrant since 2023, occurred on August 18.
