Allan Saint-Maximin returns to Concacaf, but not to Liga MX
The French striker left Ligue 1 club Lens. Allan Saint-Maximin is a new Major League Soccer player
Allan Saint-Maximin had a discreet time in Mexican soccer. The French forward arrived with great achievements in Mexico, but he could not shine in the short time he was there. Maximin now returns to Concacaf, but now to live his first experience in the MLS.
Charlotte FC announced the hiring of Allan Saint-Maximin. This American team enjoyed the services of Wilfried Zaha, but the Ivorian striker was on loan at this institution. Maximin will take his place as franchise player.
"Maxi is an elite attacking talent who has consistently performed at the highest levels of our sport, including in the Premier League. We are delighted to bring a player of his quality to Charlotte while he is in the prime of his career," said general manager Zoran Krneta.
Although he did not have an outstanding performance in Mexico, Allan Saint-Maximin's capabilities are intact. The French striker was able to score four goals on his return to Europe. Maximin signed a contract in the United States until June 2029.
"His creativity, speed, technical ability and talent immediately make him one of the most exciting players in Major League Soccer. Adding a player with his pedigree, experience and winning mentality will bolster our attacking options and strengthen the team as a whole. We are excited to welcome him and his family to Charlotte," he added.
Allan Saint-Maximin in Liga MX
With the Águilas del América shirt, Allan Saint-Maximin played 16 games (805 minutes on the field). Maximin scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists during his time in Liga MX. The 29-year-old forward complained about some extra-sports problems, related to racial issues, that made his internship in Mexico uncomfortable.
