Pachuca closes the door to “Chofis” Lopez and his career is ending
Javier Eduardo Lopez closed another door in Liga MX by reaching an agreement with Pachuca to terminate his contract
What could have been a brilliant career, full of successes in accordance with that strange talent that he has in his style of play, Javier Eduardo Lopez, better known as “Chofis” apparently put the final nail in the only door that remained in the Liga MX when Pachuca confirmed his official departure.
The above was announced by the Tuzos organization through an official statement in which it details that the working relationship with the player has come to an end, wishing him the greatest success in future sporting challenges, thus closing another chapter and perhaps the last in the career of this misunderstood player.
After Lopez found the necessary motivation and support with Guillermo Almada, he reactivated his career to help Pachuca fight for important things like the Liga MX title, but when the Uruguayan strategist left, things went from bad to worse to the point that for four days he was not taken into account by coach Jaime Lozano, thus hastening the decision that this player came to.
During the Uruguayan coach's stay, he helped win a Liga MX and a CONCACAF Champions League, but two years later the same coach announced his departure due to "personal issues," leaving the details of his dismissal in suspense, after being transferred to the Tuzos three years ago from Chivas.
A career full of lights and shadows
It should be noted that Javier Eduardo Lopez emerged in the Chivas youth academy under the command of Argentine Matias Almeyda, where he was able to help win four titles, one League in the 2017 Clausura, two Copa MX and a Supercopa MX, before being crowned with Pachuca in the 2022 Apertura by beating the Diablos Rojos del Toluca.
But his career was full of indiscipline that motivated his departure to Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2020 with the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS, where injuries limited his performance and gradually made him an unproductive player in the North American franchise.
Personally,His career has been marked by ups and downs and various indiscipline that always overshadowed his moments of success, to the point that the teams that were interested in his services made it a condition that the disciplinary regulations be respected.
His scandals
Javier Eduardo Lopez was a player who always felt misunderstood and since his beginnings with Matias Almeyda he began to show signs of indiscipline when, in June 2018, a problem arose from a video in which he appears in a pool surrounded by scantily clad men and women at a private celebration, but which could be known through these graphic testimonials.
Later, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis in March 2020, where attending crowded places was prohibited, it could be known through a video published by his partner, attending a celebration, where he ignored all the recommendations that the board made to them as recommendations sanitary.
To make matters worse, Chofis Lopez, instead of assuming a more reserved attitude, allowed him to be involved in a sex crime scandal in November 2020 where Dieter Villalpando, Juan Jose “Gallito” Vazquez and Alexis Pena were involved, which led to his separation and departure from the Guadalajara squad.
Despite the weight of these events, Pachuca decided to give him another chance in Liga MX by signing him in July 2022 and from that moment on, they lived a history of back and forth with the player due to his propensity to gain weight, until this October 23, 2025 they ended the working relationship between both parties.
