Pope Leo XIV receives a Dodgers shirt and they ask him to pray for the World Series
Pope Leo XIV met with the Archbishop of Los Angeles and received a Shohei Ohtani jersey
Pope Leo XIV received a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey this Wednesday from Jose Gomez, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
The archbishop shared the images with Pope Leo during his visit to Rome and stated that he asked him to pray for the team that is currently in the bottom three.
2-3 in the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Leon XIV has repeatedly stated that he is a fan of the Chicago White Sox, and there are even videos of him at the 2005 World Series that the White Sox won.
Blake Snell called his Game 5 loss bad luck
Blake Snell believes that bad luck played a role in his poor performance in Game 5 as much as it did for the Toronto Blue Jays. “Luck plays a part in baseball, too,” he said.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner allowed two home runs on his first three pitches, and then faltered again at the end of Wednesday night's 6-1 loss, which put the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers on the brink of defeat in the World Series. The Blue Jays took a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series and can snatch the title from Los Angeles with a win Friday in Game 6 in Toronto. Snell gave up back-to-back home runs to Davis Schneider and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., the first consecutive leadoff home runs in World Series history. The first three pitches were fastballs, and Snell's next 22 pitches were breaking balls. "First pitch of the game, a 97 mph fastball high and inside, he hit it at 98, and it went out of the park," Snell said of Schneider. "Bad luck. Vlad, yeah, that was a bad pitch." He said he didn't think he was giving away any clues about the type of pitch he was going to throw. "I think they're just waiting for a fastball," he said. "They read the swings and attack, like they should and like I thought they would."
