The preparation camp for the first defense of the welterweight crown of the World Boxing Council, Ryan García, scheduled for next September 12 in Las Vegas, has begun to define its sports strategy.

Coach Henry García offered a balance of what he expects for this commitment and announced that the defending monarch's team's planning is aimed at finishing the actions before the regulatory limit.

In an interview with the specialized portal BoxingScene, the head coach explained that the corner's objective is clear ahead of the clash at the T-Mobile Arena. “We are looking for the knockout,” said the trainer about the plan they have for his pupil, Ryan García, who has a record of 20 fast-track definitions in his 27 professional appearances in the ring.

The coach also argued that British rival Conor Benn lacks the necessary training for this level of competition, despite his undefeated record in minor categories.

When comparing this defense with the February fight against Mario Barrios, where Ryan García won the title, Henry García pointed out that the previous opponent represented greater complexity: "The boy is a warrior, but he doesn't have the experience that people think. He probably started late in his career. We don't see a threat. To be honest, I thought we had a greater threat with Barrios."

An approach focused on distance and definition

The team's confidence is based on the analysis of the styles of both fighters in the ring. Henry García explained that the offensive characteristics of the European challenger will facilitate the counterattack of his client, which reduces the chances that the fight will be decided by the commissioners' cards when all the episodes scheduled for the evening are completed.

"That's why I feel safe in saying that it won't make it to 12 rounds. Normally I don't talk about a knockout. I apologize for having started so forcefully. But I know that it won't make it to 12 rounds and that we're looking to finish this as soon as possible," the trainer detailed to BoxingScene. In that sense, the financial projections of the betting houses support this position by placing Ryan García as the favorite with a line of -325, while the challenger appears with a quota of 260.

The monarch's corner has closely followed the European's performance since the first negotiations were proposed at the beginning of the year.

The maturity of the champion and the promotional environment

This event coincides with Mexican Independence weekend, a date that has historically hosted the most important commercial events in Las Vegas.

In addition, the evening will serve as a stage for co-promotion between Golden Boy Promotions and Zuffa Boxing, brands directed by Oscar De La Hoya and Dana White, whose marked commercial differences have influenced the development of previous work tables.

When asked about the administrative tensions between the directors of both companies, the coach separated his technical work from the office agreements. "What De La Hoya and White discuss, that's up to them. My job is to get Ryan a victory, so he can defend his title," García said.
