Kaylor Navas spoke about the departure of Efraín Juárez from the UNAM Pumas
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper highlighted his good relationship with Juárez. Keylor Navas made his first request about the new process
Efraín Juárez left respectable numbers within the UNAM Pumas. After reaching the final of Clausura 2026, Juárez decided to leave. Keylor Navas, one of the club's leaders, sent good wishes to the Mexican strategist in his next challenges.
It seemed that Efraín Juárez managed to mesh the team last season. After a slow start, the UNAM Pumas began to compete within Mexican soccer. However, Juárez decided to step aside and leave the team.
"I get along very well with him (Juárez), it is true that you always want the best for the people you appreciate. In the end the club and he have had their conversations, I was not there, so I can't say anything. What I can say is something personal, that I wish him and his family the best wherever they go," said Keylor Navas.
Efraín Juárez assumes a new process in European football, but now as head coach. The Mexican will direct Győri ETO FC of the first division of Hungarian soccer. The Mexican strategist would have signed a one-year contract.
Keylor Navas asks for patience
The veteran Costa Rican goalkeeper is aware that the beginning of a new process in the Pumas will not be easy. Esteban Solari is in charge of leading Apertura 2026. Keylor Navas begins to give support to his management.
“Projects are not built overnight, in the end in football there are no secrets, I believe that work supports but with time,” he explained.
Esteban Solari has short experience as a coach. Solari's first step was directing Johor Darul Ta'zim in Malaysia. The Argentine also commanded the benches of Everton de Viña del Mar, Godoy Cruz and the Tuzos del Pachuca.
“When you start a new process you have to have that patience, although it is true that we all want to be in the finals, both the fans and the players have to be realistic that we are in a new process,” Navas stated.
