The Chivas fans, with several hundreds of fans, showed the players of the “Sacred Flock” their unrestricted support for this Wednesday duel co ntra Cruz Azul, with a pachangón outside the hotel where they stayed in CDMX with a serenade included that generated the players to join a few minutes to the celebration.
The followers of the popular tapatío painting materially crowded the surroundings of the hotel located in the southwest of CDMX, arriving with flags , t-shirts, band instruments and a mariachi that gave the colophon to the celebration defying the rain and the cold that was felt on the outskirts of the hotel.
The red-and-white followers sang at their open lungs an endless screams of support for their colors with the classics “I wish you the best”, in addition to the s traditional truncheons like “Dale Rebaño” and the already emblematic “Chivas, Chivas”, which was felt in the rest center of the rojiblanco campus.
The Chivas players, before the effervescence of their followers, left the hotel to thank the gesture of their fans and to live together with them, posing for the photo and signing hundreds of autographs in front of the constant support and screams of encouragement from the fans themselves.
Among the most applauded players were Ángel Sepúlveda, Omar Govea, Diego Campillo and Micky Tapias, who felt the constant support and affection of their followers, who they hope to be the driving force of the tapatío team to take an important advantage in the duel against Cruz Azul in the first leg of the semifinals of the 2026 Clausura tournament, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at the Banorte stadium.
Many accounts to collect between Cruz Azul and Chivas
After the penalty missed by “Chicharito” Hernández from the last tournament that eliminated Chivas in the quarterfinals against Cruz Azul in Ciudad Universitaria, the rivalry between ce lestes and rojiblancos is more alive than ever and until the moment, in the history of short tournaments, in 64 duels, Cruz Azul has advantage with 23 wins to 19 for Chivas and 25 draws.
But in the final phases, the “Sacred Flock” has advantage over the cemeteries, like that final of the 1986-87 tournament in which, led by Alberto Guerra, they imposed the “Celestial Machine” with a overall of 4-2 with a equipment po formed by Javier Ledesma, Sergio Lugo, Demetrio Madero, Fernando Quirarte, José Gutiérrez; Omar Arellan or, Guillermo Mendizábal, José Manuel de la Torre, Benjamín Galindo, Concepción Rodríguez and Eduardo de la Torre.
While Cruz Azul played with Pablo Larios, Ignacio Flores, Edgardo Fuentes, Sergio Rubio, Marco Mendizábal, Armando Romero, Porfirio Jiménez, Marcelino Bernal, Martín Gálvez, Mariano Puyol, Agustín Manzo or Juan Morales.
As also the most recent, 23 years ago in the 2003 Clausura tournament, when Chivas came back from 4-0 that Cruz Azul had them against the ropes with three goals in the first way and in the return a goal from Francisco Palencia at 12 minutes put things in color for the Sacred Flock.
But they came from behind with goals from Joel Sánchez, Omar Bravo, Johny García and Jair García to leave out the celestes from the liguilla of that tournament in an incredible way.
