Tuzos de Pachuca announces Benjamín Mora as its new coach
One of the main objectives of the strategist who replaces Esteban Solari will be to consolidate the project of young talents
Pachuca already has a new leader on the bench. This Wednesday, the Tuzos made official the arrival of Benjamín Mora as technical director to face the 2026 Apertura Tournament of the MX League, which will begin next July.
The Hidalgo board is betting on a coach with extensive international experience and experience in different projects around the world, with the aim of maintaining the club's competitiveness and strengthening its recognized model for the development of young footballers.
During his official presentation, Mora made clear his work philosophy and ability to adapt.
"The mind is the most powerful thing that a human being has. I can adapt very easily to the needs of wherever I am," said the helmsman in his presentation video, which was published on the team's social networks.
Benjamín Mora replaces Esteban Solari in Pachuca
The 46-year-old Mexican strategist arrives to fill the position left vacant by the Argentine Esteban Solari, who unexpectedly left the institution last week.
Although Solari managed to qualify the team to the final phase of Clausura 2026, the adventure ended in the semifinals after the elimination against Pumas UNAM. Now, the responsibility will fall on Mora, who will try to consolidate a competitive and leading project within Mexican soccer.
His most recent experience was in Asian soccer, where he coached the Wuhan Three Towns of China before accepting the challenge of leading the Hidalgo team.
A career marked by international success
Benjamín Mora's career began in the lower categories of Tijuana and Atlético Chiapas, but it was outside of Mexico where he built much of his prestige.
Between 2015 and 2022 he coached Johor Darul Takzim FC in Malaysia, a period in which he won multiple championships and established himself as one of the most successful coaches in the club's recent history.
Thanks to these results, he received the opportunity to coach Atlas, his first team in Liga MX, during the period between 2022 and 2023.
From Canada to Querétaro: the journey before reaching Tuzos
The coach's career also led him to try his luck in Canada. In 2024 he took charge of York United Football Club, further expanding his international experience.
He later returned to Mexico to take the reins of Querétaro, an institution where he remained until last year before becoming Pachuca's new bet.
The challenge of maintaining the commitment to young talents
One of the main challenges for Mora will be to preserve the identity that has distinguished the club in recent years: the promotion and consolidation of young footballers.
This model achieved important successes under the direction of Uruguayan Guillermo Almada, who led the team to win the Concacaf Champions Cup and consolidated a generation of footballers who today stand out both in Mexico and abroad.
After Almada's departure, Jaime Lozano tried to continue the project, although without the expected results. Solari later arrived, who obtained outstanding performances, but chose not to continue leading the institution.
When will Benjamín Mora debut with Pachuca
The official debut of Benjamín Mora as coach of Pachuca is scheduled for next July 18, when the Tuzos visit Pumas UNAM on Matchday 1 of Apertura 2026.
The Hidalgo fans hope that the new strategist can keep the club among the protagonists of the Liga MX and promote one of the most productive quarries in Mexican soccer.
