The best team man for man in baseball took until October to reach its best form. The Los Angeles Dodgers look unbeatable in these playoffs and the World Series is just around the corner.

Tyler Glasnow and four relievers combined to hold the Milwaukee Brewers to four hits for a 3-1 victory Thursday and afternoon put the Dodgers up 3-0 in the National League Championship Series.

Game 4 is scheduled for this Friday at 5:38 pm PT at Dodger Stadium, where the reigning Major League champions will have the opportunity to complete the sweep and seek their 27th National League pennant. Shohei Ohtani is the probable pitcher for Los Angeles.

Ohtani gets off to a good start with a triple and Betts drives him in

Caught in a rare slump, Ohtani immediately animated the fans in the stadium by hitting the ball and connecting on a base hit near the right field line. The ball went wide and the Japanese reached third with a triple to score on the next pitch from left-handed starter Aaron Ashby with a double by Mookie Betts to make it 1-0.

The Brewers responded in the second when Caleb Durbin hit a triple with one out and scored on a single by Jake Bauers with the infield playing in to make it 1-1. It's worth mentioning that on Durbin's hit to left, outfielder Enrique Hernandez dove for the ball from too far away and when it didn't reach him, he allowed it to extend.

Max Muncy, the third baseman, avoided further damage in the inning by fielding a hot grounder from Joey Ortiz and then throwing out runner Bauers at home, who had reached third on a steal and an error by pitcher Glasnow.

Ohtani continued to battle in the batter's box (1 for 4 and 2 strikeouts) and is averaging an unthinkable .158 in these playoffs.

Duel of pitchers with basketball bodies

Tyler Glasnow had his second high-quality start in these playoffs for the Dodgers. After shining in the decisive game of the Division Series against Philadelphia, the Los Angeles native was dominant on Thursday. For example, in the third inning,he struck out all three batters. The 32-year-old right-hander pitched 5.2 innings with just 3 hits, 1 run, 8 strikeouts, and 3 walks. His ERA in the playoffs is a microscopic 0.68.

Adding in the performances of Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Glasnow, the Los Angeles starters in this series have gone 22 2/3 innings with just 2 runs allowed, 7 hits, 4 walks and 25 strikeouts.

While the lanky 6-foot-8 pitcher was doing his thing for the home team, Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski was showing a national and international audience that he can become one of the best in all of the Major Leagues.

The 23-year-old, who is 6-foot-7, put out the fire in the first inning after relieving starter Ashby and striking out two men with runners on base. He navigated with effectiveness and power to give his team the opportunity to stay in the fight against the Dodgers.

Misiorowski struck out Ohtani to complete the fifth inning, his eighth strikeout and tenth batter retired in a row.

Tommy Edman puts the Dodgers ahead in the sixth

But the Dodgers finally figured out Misiorowski in the sixth inning. With one out, Will Smith singled, Freddie Freeman came from behind to work the walk, and Tommy Edman singled to center to drive in Smith with the score at 2-1.

Manager Pat Murphy relieved his rookie (5 innings, 3 hits, 1 earned run, 9 strikeouts, 1 walk) for Dominican Abner Uribe, who made a serious error with two outs and runners on the corners when he threw wildly on a twist to first base, allowing Freeman to score from third to make it 3-1.

Relievers Alex Vesia (winning pitcher), Blake Treinen, Anthony Banda, and Roki Sasaki, who got the save, took care of the rest of the game almost perfectly for the Dodgers, who are very close to getting rid of their third rival in this postseason (8-1 record) and advancing to the World Series.
