Apple Celebrates Black History Month with the New Black Unity Band: Price and Availability
The Black Unity band has a soft texture and is both water and sweat resistant, making it ideal for everyday use
Apple introduced the new Black Unity band for Apple Watch: a special edition called the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop that celebrates Black History Month and the power of connection. Besides looking amazing, it also comes with pretty clear manufacturing and compatibility details (and yes: it's already available for purchase).
A special edition with a message (and plenty of design)
The new Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop is a special edition band that Apple is releasing as part of its annual tradition to commemorate Black History Month. Apple explains that the design was created by African American creatives and allies within the company, following the style of the Black Unity bands from previous years.
As for the look, the band incorporates the colors of the Pan-African flag (red, green, and black), but with a twist: when viewed up close, multiple shades of those colors appear to give it more depth and vibrancy. There's also an interesting "tech" component: it's made by weaving filaments of recycled polyester yarn around ultra-thin silicone threads, using high-precision braiding machinery. Apple highlights that the material has a soft texture and that the band is sweat and water resistant, meaning it's designed for everyday use (and for working out without worry). Price and availability: how much it costs and when it arrives in stores. In the United States, the official price is $99. Apple also confirms that it's available to order starting today from the online Apple Store and the Apple Store app.
If you're one of those who prefers to see the band in person before buying it (perfectly valid), it will also be sold in physical Apple stores "later this week," according to the announcement.
Which Apple Watches are compatible with the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop?
The Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop comes in 42mm and 46mm case sizes and is offered in band sizes 0 to 12. Regarding compatibility, Apple is quite straightforward: it works with Apple Watch Series 4 or later, Apple Watch SE,and all Apple Watch Ultra models (note: the 46mm band applies to the Ultra).
