Guillermo del Toro's new film, 'Frankenstein,' received a Gotham Award, and in his acceptance speech, he condemned the use of artificial intelligence
Upon receiving a Vanguard tribute for his film Frankenstein at the Gotham Awards, director Guillermo del Toro forcefully expressed his rejection of artificial intelligence in filmmaking.
After praising the cast and crew of the Netflix film—highlighting designers, builders, makeup artists, cinematographers, composers and editors—, del Toro stated: “The talent of all of them shines through in every frame of this film, intentionally made by humans, for humans.”
Closing his speech, the director shouted: “Fuck AI!”, a statement that resonated as a strong plea for art made by people.
