A family of immigrants was arrested by about 20 federal agents in San Diego: They had rifles and lights.
On June 18, Kevin Robles was arrested along with his parents and sister. The agents carried rifles, tactical gear, and a search warrant.
“I love you, stay strong,” those were the last words Kevin Robles heard from his father, seconds before about 20 federal agents broke into their home in San Diego. The family of four immigrants was violently arrested.
The incident occurred around 6:00 am on June 18, according to a report broadcast by the Telemundo network.
“This is a court order to search the property,” announced the agents, uniformed in head-to-toe tactical gear and carrying assault rifles. Some neighbors were able to record the scene, evidencing the impressive operation to arrest the Hispanic family.
“(They arrived) breaking windows, throwing bombs and making a lot of noise,” said Robles, who was arrested along with his parents and his sister Raquel. “They had rifles and lights pointed at us,” he recalled.
Kevin and his sister were released, but his parents were not.
Arnoldo Robles, the head of the immigrant family, now faces a federal charge of being a sport found in the country, according to public records.
The four members left the home handcuffed and escorted by officers, crying and uncertain. Young Kevin told the officers told him to be quiet when he asked them to loosen the handcuffs.
"They told me no, to be quiet and that I didn't have the right to speak. They were even cursing me," he said. Both he and his sister were released shortly after, as they are American citizens, however, their parents remain detained.
According to court documents, Arnoldo Robles has a conviction and closed case for driving under the influence, in 2023. After the arrest, he remains in federal custody.
Meanwhile, Angelica Ortega, mother of Kevin and Raquel, is being held at the Otay Mesa immigration detention center. It is still unknown whether she will be deported, and her young children are clinging to their father's words, who asked them to stay strong.
