A former Nashville police officer was sentenced to one year of supervised probation after pleading best interest to a charge of gross official misconduct. The decision was confirmed Thursday by court documents.
A second charge was dismissed, and the court also granted judicial diversion, which will allow Herman to have the case dismissed and subsequently expunged from his record if he complies with the conditions of his sentence, according to the AP.
The case
Former officer Sean Herman, 35, was fired in May 2024 after it was revealed he participated in the recording of an adult video while on duty and in uniform.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD), detectives with the Specialized Investigations Division detected the material on the Only Fans platform, where Herman He was seen in a fake traffic stop groping a female driver.
The video was recorded on April 26, 2024, in a warehouse parking lot while Herman was on patrol duty.
Following his termination, a state board indefinitely suspended Herman's certification as a law enforcement officer in Tennessee in August 2024. Under the terms of the suspension, he would be eligible to apply for reinstatement after the close of his criminal case.
