However, George clarified that there is no need to panic about monkeypox, as the investigation and surveillance has been increased across the state. Earlier, the second case of monkeypox in India was reported in Kannur district of Kerala. On July 13, the infection was confirmed in a person who returned from Dubai to Kannur. He is being treated at Pariyaram Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. There itself, The first patient of monkeypox in India was also found in Kerala. Symptoms of infection were seen in a person who arrived in Kollam from UAE on 12 July. He is under treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
