Authorities dismantle group dedicated to car theft in Southern California
The criminal organization altered vehicle identification numbers and falsified DMV documents; six people were arrested by authorities
Six suspects were arrested during an operation against a group specialized in car theft in Southern California, reported the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
In December In 2024, the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction (RAID) Task Force began an investigation into the Long Beach Performance organization, which allegedly operated in Riverside, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Orange counties, the CHP said. Over the next nine months, detectives uncovered a sophisticated criminal organization and network that involved auto theft, altered vehicle identification numbers (VINs), and falsified Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) documentation.
