Billionaire Elon Musk and Prince Andrew appear in new files released by US Congressional Democrats linked to the late sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein.

The files were turned over to the House Oversight Committee by those responsible for Jeffrey's Epstein estate and appear to show that Musk was invited to the financier's island in December 2014.

Separately, a flight log from New Jersey to Florida in May 2000 lists Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, among the passengers.

The BBC has contacted Musk and Prince Andrew for comment.

The latter has strongly denied any wrongdoing. Musk has previously claimed that Epstein invited him to the island, but he declined. The partial records are part of the third batch of documents in the Epstein case. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee say they include telephone records, copies of flight and aircraft logs, copies of accounting books, and Epstein's daily schedule. In addition to Musk and Prince Andrew, the released files also contain the names of other prominent figures, including internet entrepreneur Peter Thiel and Steve Bannon, a former adviser to US President Donald Trump. One line in the records, dated December 6, 2014, reads: “Reminder: Elon Musk to island December 6 (is this still happening?).” A flight log indicates that Prince Andrew traveled with Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell from Teterboro, New York. Jersey, to West Palm Beach, Florida, on May 12, 2000.

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of conspiring with Epstein to traffic girls for sex.

A ledger, heavily redacted, records two references to massage payments to an “Andrew” in February and May 2000.

While Buckingham Palace records, photographs, and contemporary press reports indicate that Prince Andrew traveled to the United States around the dates recorded in the newly released document, it is unclear who the “Andrew” referred to in the ledger is.

On May 11, 2000,Buckingham Palace announced on its website that Prince Andrew flew to New York to attend a reception for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

Andrew returned to the UK on May 15, according to a later post.

Other Names in the Records

There is also an entry in the files referencing a planned lunch with Peter Thiel in November 2017.

They also include an entry planned about a breakfast with Steve Bannon on February 17, 2019.

The files also mention tentative plans for a breakfast with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in December 2014. In 2022, Gates told the BBC that meeting Epstein had been a “mistake.” There is no suggestion that the people named in the files were aware of the alleged criminal activity for which Epstein was later arrested. Epstein committed suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. In 2008, he struck a plea deal after the parents of a 14-year-old girl told police in Florida that Epstein had sexually abused their daughter at his Palm Beach home. He was arrested again in July 2019 for sex trafficking. Sara Guerrero, a representative for Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, urged the US attorney general to investigate the alleged crime. United, Pam Bondi, to release more files related to Epstein.

“It should be clear to all Americans that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and richest men in the world,” she said.

“Every new document that is released new information as we work to bring justice to survivors and victims.”

Republicans on the committee accused Democrats of “putting politics before victims” and said they would soon release the full documentation.
