A surge of high temperatures due to a high pressure system, forecast for this week, prompted an extreme heat alert to be issued for Southern California.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reported that a heat alert is in effect for non-coastal areas of Southern California until at least 8:00 p.m. this Friday, July 10.
According to meteorologists, temperatures in regions of the Inland Empire are forecast to exceed 100°F (37°C), with records of up to 107°F (41.6°C) this Thursday in some areas of the High Desert.
