Firefighters battle wildfires in Southern California
Hundreds of firefighters are working to contain multiple fires in Southern California counties; tens of thousands of residents evacuated
Hundreds of firefighters are deployed in several Southern California counties to fight multiple wildfires that broke out since last week and have evacuated thousands of residents.
Although not the largest incident, the Sandy Fire, which began Monday morning in Ventura County, forced the evacuation of nearly 44,000 people, the largest number currently displaced, with more than 900 firefighters battling the fire.
Without official confirmation, the flames could have allegedly originated from a spark that caused a tractor to hit a rock in land with dry vegetation, around 10:50 a.m., in the Sandy Avenue area of Simi Valley.
