A Hispanic man from Orange County was charged with involuntary manslaughter for the explosion of illegal fireworks that caused the death of an 8-year-old girl in 2025.
Earl Decastro, 47, of Buena Park, was charged Wednesday with recklessly lighting illegal fireworks, an incident in which 8-year-old Jasmine Nguyen died, the Orange County District Attorney's Office reported in a news release.
On July 4, 2025, Jasmine, along with her sister and mother, attended an Independence Day party at Decastro's home.
