The triumph of Fatima Bosch in Miss Universe continues to generate a lot of discussion due to the way it happened and what some of those involved in the pageant, including certain participants, have said.

After Miss Ivory Coast resigned from the assignment she had been given due Following their outstanding performance in Thailand, the grievances of Miss Palestine, Miss Estonia, and Miss Portugal have also come to light, highlighting the irregularities they experienced in the competition. Brigitta Schaback, who represented Estonia in the most recent Miss Universe pageant, denounced, for example, some of the injustices they suffered. In her case, she referred to Mario Bucaro, the CEO of Miss Universe, who informed them that married women were not accepted in the pageant, which called into question the inclusivity that has been so widely discussed in recent editions of the competition. "In his speech, he said that Miss Universe cannot be married because she has to be married to the Miss Universe organization and the sponsors. And that left us completely confused." Brigitta's statements were reinforced by Camila Vitorino, the representative of Portugal, who also used her social media to make herself heard, while also sharing some of the criticism Miss Universe has received.

"I no longer feel represented by the principles that the Miss Universe organization has chosen to uphold (...) I want to highlight a specific moment when I knew my journey had come to an end. During a conversation between the organization and the contestants, it was said that the reigning queen didn't have a boyfriend because there wasn't time, that her commitment was to the community and her marriage was to the project. My heart raced," reads an excerpt from her statement.

She then detailed that what was said was a very hard blow for her and for other participants who were married or in a romantic relationship.

I looked around, Hoping I've misunderstood. Several contestants who were married or in relationships, like me, were visibly hurt, she continued, not before delivering a message of empowerment to all women who are forced to abandon their dreams to start a family. "To the women, mothers, wives, and girls who dream: Never let anyone confine you. Never accept being told that you must choose between love and ambition, between family and the stage, between who you are and who you aspire to be. Your strength is limitless, and the world needs your authenticity now more than ever," she concluded in a statement written in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
