Newsom asks Trump to declare a state of federal emergency in Orange County
California Governor Gavin Newsom asks for federal support in the face of the emergency in Garden Grove; certain schools suspend activities until further notice
California Governor Gavin Newsom submitted a request to President Donald Trump to declare a state of emergency over the chemical incident occurring in the city of Garden Grove, Orange County.
Newsom's request comes after the measures taken by the state of California to protect public safety, deploy resources and support the efforts of local emergency services, with an emergency declaration in Orange County that the governor issued this Saturday.
“In California we don't wait for a disaster to strike, we act early to protect lives and communities,” Governor Newsom stated in a press release.
