Owner of fortune in Powerball acquires houses destroyed by fire in Los Angeles
Hispanic Edwin Castro, winner of the $2.04 billion Powerball prize in 2022, buys 10 destroyed properties in Altadena to rebuild and sell them
The winner of the largest Powerball prize in the history of the United States lottery, Edwin Castro, is investing millions of dollars in the purchase of land destroyed by the devastating Eaton Fire in his native Altadena to rebuild the city.
Castro is buying lots burned by the January wildfire and rebuilding the properties with the goal of selling them to new families.
In November 2022, Castro won a $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot, but he opted to receive a single cash payment of $997,600 instead of the entire prize pool divided into 29 annual payments.
