Pete Buttigieg denounces that there is a “carnival of corruption” in Washington
Pete Buttigieg, former secretary of transportation, accuses Donald Trump's government of engaging in alleged corrupt acts
Pete Buttigieg, former secretary of transportation during the presidency of Joe Biden and who is emerging as one of the candidates for the Democratic presidential candidacy, stated that there is a “carnival of corruption” in the current government.
The politician who, according to the results of a survey carried out at the end of May by the non-partisan public opinion research and survey center Emerson College Polling, is the one with the greatest support among Democratic citizens, attacked the administration headed by President Donald Trump, because in his view it intends to bury the so-called "American dream."
"Right now, what is at stake is nothing less than the American dream. It is in danger. If you had been born the same year as my mother, at the end of World War II, you would have had a 90% chance of getting ahead and living a better life than you had to live. If you had been born when I was born, in the early 80s, it would be like flipping a coin, 50% chance, and we would also be going in the wrong direction," he said during a recent rally in Iowa.
Buttigieg urged Americans not to close their eyes to letting corruption mark the issues on the presidential agenda, since the fate of the current and future generations depends on it.
"What will become of you and my children? That depends on us. And it begins by recognizing that our economy is unfair because our politics are unfair. You can see it in the carnival of corruption that is Washington, D.C., today," he said.
To demonstrate what has been happening with the government for a year and a half after Trump's return to the White House, the former secretary of transportation cited the plane gifted by the Qatari royal family, which the head of the nation has begun to use during some work trips where he keeps receiving more expensive gifts.
"Opaque corporate money flows into election campaigns everywhere. Congressmen trade stocks while casting votes that influence markets. The leader of the free world travels on a second-hand jumbo jet from a foreign country while making a billion dollars from cryptocurrency deals backed by foreign leaders," he emphasized.
Given the severe comments of the former Democratic official, Davis Ingle, White House spokesperson, accused him of being co-responsible for having plunged the nation into a crisis inherited by Biden from Trump.
“He is a talentless nobody who, along with the sleepy Joe Biden, destroyed the American dream during his disastrous four years in office,” he emphasized.
