After a judge linked him to the process for alleged aggravated child sexual abuse against his stepdaughter, the former striker's family came out to publicly defend him and denounced that it was all revenge for a financial dispute.
Daniela Bravo claims that her brother was the victim of fraud
In a press conference, Daniela Bravo, the former soccer player's sister, maintained that the accusation aims to hide a fraud committed against Omar by the alleged victim's uncle. "I have reasons and evidence to substantiate this. Omar previously supported his family and was somehow defrauded. He lent his brother (of his partner) around 6 million pesos just months before this situation, which was not returned to him," she explained.
According to his version, the former Tri striker filed a commercial lawsuit against his brother-in-law after the refusal to return the money. Daniela Bravo asserted that the conflict coincided with the end of Omar's relationship. "He was already on the verge of separating from this person, and everything happened this month when he was about to leave home and she knew he was going to leave her," she added. The hearing in which the decision to prosecute the suspect lasted nearly 12 hours. Daniela Bravo, who was present, questioned the solidity of the evidence presented by the prosecution. "There were nothing more than screenshots, nothing more than interrupted conversations, insinuations, and the same in the video. There is no clear evidence that it was a case of touching, not even in the video," she told the media.
The defense seeks to demonstrate inconsistencies in the dates
The former player's legal team is focusing its defense on demonstrating that on May 10, 2019—the date the abuse allegedly began—Omar Bravo was in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, with his son and sister. Daniela assured that she has documents, plane tickets, photographs, and witnesses that support this version.
"They lied to the public prosecutor's office because their statement is not well-founded. There is no evidence that he was in the situation they present him in on May 10, 2019. He was in Los Mochis with me and my family. There are witnesses," she affirmed.
For the moment, Omar Bravo will remain in preventive detention for at least six months in the Puente Grande metropolitan prison, while the judicial process advances.
