In keeping with its plan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States in a big way, the Trump administration will allocate $5.1 million to the restoration of statues located near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Through a statement, the Department of the Interior announced that the four gold-plated equestrian statues of the Arts of War and the Arts of Peace will undergo restoration work that will include gilding.

“We are maximizing the aura of Washington, DC, before the 250th anniversary of the United States,” says part of the letter.

The relevance of this project is that, to restore the touch of elegance exhibited nearly 75 years ago, when they were gifted by the government of Italy with the aim of strengthening the ties of collaboration between both countries, it will be necessary to allocate a large sum of money from the taxes collected from Americans at a delicate time for the economy of millions of homes.

However, President Donald Trump clings to the fact that the coming months should be an opportunity to reevaluate the history of a country that emerged from the efforts of millions of people willing to risk even their lives if necessary and in order to settle in a new territory.

Hence the Republican president's plan to remodel some sites considered historical by using the services of The Gilders' Studio, a company that has been operating for many years as a service provider for the government, regardless of the political party that leads in the White House.

At the time, the Biden administration awarded that company an initial $225,854.10 contract to restore the First Infantry Division Monument in the president's park.
