A heinous crime captured on video has shocked Mexico City, as a young woman walking her dog was murdered by a man in a robe in the street.
The Attorney General's Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX) is investigating the The murder of Amanda Castro Rossab, the victim of the crime that occurred on the night of Friday, October 24, at around 9:04 p.m.
Security videos obtained by local media outlets such as La Silla Rota show that the young woman sat on the corner where she was approached by a hooded man.
The attack on video
The recordings show that Amanda talked and walked next to the man for about 18 minutes before being attacked, so she likely knew him.
The attacker took her to a planter where the cameras lost visibility due to the foliage. There, according to reports, he hit her and finally cut her throat with a knife. Witnesses indicated that they heard screams, but no police car arrived at the scene.
After the murder, the man walked calmly through the area, still wearing his black robe. He was captured when he entered a Metro station and then his trail disappeared. So far, authorities have not issued an official statement on the case.
Amanda had been reported missing to the Mexico City Commission for the Search for Persons. The bulletin was later removed from social media, without the institution publicly clarifying that the young woman had been found dead.
Amanda's femicide occurs in a week in which two cases of this type were registered in the Mexican capital, despite the fact that the mayor, Clara Brugada, assured that femicides had decreased by 35% in September, according to her security report.
Neither the mayor nor the mayor of Cuauhtemoc have issued statements on the case, although one of the main promises of the local administration is the protection of women.
