The result is a Mustang that not only feels more aggressive, but that also targets straightforwards enthusiasts who are seeking more intense sensations.
A V8 that makes the difference
Under the hood appears an familiar older, but with a setup that impresses. It is the 5.2 liter supercharged V8 that has It has also given life to other iconic versions of the brand. In this case, the final figure reaches 806 horsepower and a maximum torque of 895 Nm.
These figures not only place it above the latest Shelby GT500, but also bring it dangerously close to the exclusive M ustang GTD. The difference between both no longer seems so wide, something that speaks of the work that Ford has done on this variant.
“Developing the Mustang Dark Horse SC along with the Mustang GTD and our racing Mustang GT3 allowed us to create a constant flow of innovation. Our goal was to transfer the technology and the lessons learned in our racing of strength directly to our street cars, offering our customers an authentic experience of what our competition teams experience on the track,” comments Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Racing.
More than power, a total focus on handling
Not everything revolves around the engine. The Dark Horse SC also evolves in its dynamic behavior with a series of adjustments that seek greater precision and control. The suspension receives revised components, with firmer springs and optimized stabilizer bars.
Added to this are lighter parts made of forged aluminum, a front reinforcement bar in magnesium and an improved rear geometry. The set is complemented with an updated steering system that promises a more direct response.
The width of the roads also grows, which contributes to greater stability in fast curves. Everything is designed so that the driver feels the car more connected to the asphalt.
A package designed for the track
Those who want to go even further can opt for the Track Pack. This package adds optimized MagneRide shocks, carbon fiber wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R tires.
It also incorporates carbon-ceramic brakes that help reduce unsprung weight by 68 kilograms, a key figure to improve agility. In addition, it allows adjustment of traction control in five different levels, adapting to different driving styles.
For now, this version is primarily intended for the US market, with an announced price of $108,485.
