Social Security: who receives their payment on June 10?
The Social Security Wednesday cycles begin next week. Find out who receives payment on June 10 and what the next deposit dates are
June advances and, unlike other months that become long due to a Social Security deposit that lengthens, during this week the Wednesday cycle will begin in the payment of retirement, disability and survivor benefits. Who will receive your money? Don't despair, we'll tell you right away.
Next Wednesday, June 10, will mark the beginning of this monthly payment cycle. On this date, beneficiaries whose birthday falls between the 1st and the 10th of any month of the year will receive their deposits. They are one of the largest groups among the more than 71 million Americans who receive benefits administered by the SSA.
The federal agency organizes June payments on three different dates, commonly known as the Social Security Wednesday cycle. After the deposit corresponding to June 10, the next beneficiaries to receive their resources will be those born between the 11th and 20th of any month. For them, payment is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17.
Subsequently, the last group will receive their benefits on Wednesday, June 24. This date corresponds to people born between the 21st and 31st of the month.
It is important to remember that there is an exception for those who receive benefits using another person's work history, as is the case in some cases of spouses or survivors. In these situations, the SSA takes into account the date of birth of the person on whose history the benefit is based and not that of the beneficiary receiving the money.
Other Social Security payments that have already been sent
Although Wednesday deposits are the best known, they are not the only payments scheduled during June. The SSA already made deposits on June 3 for a specific group of beneficiaries. These are those who began receiving benefits before May 1997. For them, the date of birth does not influence the calendar, since their payments are distributed at the beginning of each month.
Additionally, some beneficiaries receive both Social Security and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. In these cases, the SSI payment was issued on June 1, while the Social Security deposit arrived two days later, on June 3.
How much do beneficiaries receive on average?
The amounts vary depending on the type of benefit each person receives. According to the most recent data shared by the SSA, the average monthly benefit for retirees reaches $2,026.41.
For their part, those who receive disability benefits obtain a monthly average of $1,493.20 dollars. For survivor benefits, the average payment is $1,625.56.
These figures may be higher or lower depending on work history, reported earnings during working life, and other factors considered by SSA when calculating each benefit.
How are payments sent?
The most common way to receive benefits is through direct deposit into a bank account. Beneficiaries can update their financial data through the “My Social Security” digital platform, available on the official SSA portal.
Another alternative is the Direct Express card, a debit card designed specifically for distributing federal payments. This option allows you to access money without having a traditional bank account.
