The White House boasts cheap gasoline at $3.47 a gallon from the Freedom Fuel network
The White House promoted the new Freedom Fuel stations with gasoline at $3.47 per gallon. Is it a government company? What is known?
For several months, since the war with Iran began and, especially, the tensions regarding the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, fuel prices skyrocketed, worrying consumers. Therefore, when the existence of gasoline below the national average price was announced, the White House did not miss the opportunity to promote the initiative. Is it a government program or company? How can regular gasoline be offered at $3.47 per gallon? We explain all the details to you.
This Wednesday, the White House announced the opening of the first Freedom Fuel Network gas station through its social networks, with the most striking feature of the announcement: gasoline for $3.47 per gallon. Additionally, the price nods to Donald Trump's position as the current 47th president of the United States.
In the publication, the White House shared a video where motorists thanked President Trump for the fuel savings.
“President Trump is leading the charge to lower gas prices this summer, which means more money in your pockets,” the White House said in its X post.
This announcement has generated strong speculation, linking Freedom Fuel as a company or initiative of the Trump administration.
What is Freedom Fuel Network?
Freedom Fuel Network is a private company that currently operates 25 gas stations distributed between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Although the launch was widely promoted by the federal administration, officials clarified that the government has no direct involvement in the business.
“The federal government has no involvement in the Freedom Fuel Network nor does it provide funding,” White House officials stated.
In addition, authorities indicated that no external person or organization is subsidizing the price of fuel, although they did not detail how long the discount program will remain in effect.
The doubts around Freedom Fuel and the government
Despite the official promotion, there is still little public information about the company. State records show that Freedom Fuel Network LLC was incorporated in Delaware on June 23, while its website was registered on June 13, according to data from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
Additionally, on July 1, the company filed an application to register the Freedom Fuel Network trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Lawyer Anna Vishev, who appears as legal representative of the application, declined to make public comments about the company so far.
Another aspect that remains unanswered is who supplies the fuel to these stations. According to Google Maps records cited by USA Today, several of the locations previously operated under brands such as Sunoco, Gas N' Go and Karco.
How can you offer gasoline for $3.47 dollars?
The pricing strategy also attracted attention due to the difference compared to the national average. While the American Automobile Association (AAA) reported an average close to $3.85 per gallon, Freedom Fuel stations maintain the price at $3.47.
“We are selling fuel well below our cost,” a Freedom Fuel Network employee at a station in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, told CBS News.
According to specialists, gas station owners can absorb part of the increase in the price of oil to remain competitive, although this practice temporarily reduces their profits.
Where are the Freedom Fuel stations?
The network operates exclusively in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Most of its branches are located in cities such as Philadelphia, Brookhaven, Bensalem, Springfield, Camp Hill, Pottstown, Egg Harbor, Marlton and Little Egg Harbor, among other locations.
So far, the company maintains 25 participating stations, although neither the White House nor the company have reported whether the program will be expanded to other states or if the promotional price will be available permanently.
