Eight bodies with signs of torture are discovered on a highway in Chiapas
According to the authorities, a message allegedly signed by a criminal group was left with the victims.
Eight lifeless bodies were located on a highway in the state of Chiapas, in an event attributed to the dispute between organized crime groups.
According to information from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), the bodies were found near the stretch of road that connects the communities of Jitotol and La Cumbre. A message allegedly signed by a criminal group was left with the victims.
In a first report it emerged that there could be ten victims; However, the FGE later confirmed that there were eight bodies located.
The institution reported that it began the corresponding investigations to clarify the facts, identify the victims and determine the circumstances of the multiple homicide.
Neighbors of the sector pointed out that the area has registered a strong escalation of violence in recent days; In that same section, the burning of a transport unit was reported after the arrest of Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho”, was announced.
This event occurs in a context of violence linked to the dispute between criminal organizations for the control of strategic routes in the Los Altos region and northern Chiapas, where in recent months there have been clashes, blockades and various high-impact events.
So far, the authorities have not reported the identity of the victims nor have they reported any arrests related to the case.
