Trump will offer a dinner to some Wall Street tycoons to pressure them to invest in the country
Donald Trump intends to convince some Wall Street tycoons to invest part of their resources in American industry during a dinner
Concerned about the sluggish economy, President Donald Trump will host a dinner with some of Wall Street's heavyweights where he will try to convince them to invest in American manufacturing.
According to sources close to the White House cited by CBS News under On the condition of maintaining their anonymity, the president made time in his schedule to invite a select group of Wall Street magnates to dinner. The objective of bringing them together is to present them with some advantages of focusing their financial resources on certain sectors of the industry. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase; and Adena Friedman, CEO of Nasdaq, are among the select group of figures invited to the White House to share a meal with the 79-year-old Republican. Also expected to attend are Stephen Schwarzman, chairman and CEO of Blackstone; Ted Pick, CEO of Morgan Stanley; and Larry Fink, co-founder of BlackRock. and David Solomon, head of Goldman Sachs.
Another of Trump's objectives is to hear directly what financial experts think about his implemented policies, such as the tariffs imposed on most imports.
In recent weeks, information has leaked indicating a degree of discontent among the country's wealthiest individuals regarding the president's economic approach of pressuring the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates.
Jamie Dimon himself warned back in April that the tariffs could slow the country's economic growth, which Trump refuses to acknowledge, as he predicts a medium-term boom from which he claims everyone will benefit.
It should be noted that, in September,Donald Trump hosted a similar dinner attended by more than a dozen tech industry magnates who pledged to invest billions of dollars in projects aimed at strengthening the economy, thus dispelling any concerns about an impending recession. In her first remarks on the floor as a sworn-in member of Congress, Adelita Grijalva lashed out against the policies implemented by the Trump administration, stating that they are setting the country back. “Fundamental freedoms are under attack. Health insurance premiums are skyrocketing. ICE agents are separating babies from their parents. We can and must do better,” she declared.
