65-year-old woman stabbed to death in a Barnes & Noble store in Florida
The victim was attacked inside the establishment in Palm Beach Gardens. Police arrested a suspect, who faces murder charges
The attack occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m. Officers who responded to the scene found the victim, identified as Rita Loncharich, with stab wounds and immediately provided assistance. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Suspect apprehended after fleeing the scene
According to the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, the alleged assailant fled the establishment after the stabbing. Witnesses provided a description that allowed investigators to locate the suspect shortly afterward.
The individual was identified as 40-year-old Antonio Moore, who was arrested and booked Tuesday morning. Authorities reported that he faces a charge of first-degree premeditated murder and remains in custody without bail.
Ongoing investigation
Police stated that the investigation remains active and that, at this time, the motive for the attack has not been determined. Authorities have not reported any prior relationship between the victim and the suspect.
