Alabama teen accused of stabbing parents after they punished him
The young man, whose identity has not been made public, fatally stabbed his mother and injured his father, who is hospitalized.
An Alabama teenager is accused by authorities of fatally stabbing his mother and wounding his father in an attack that was reportedly prompted by punishment.
The young man, whose identity has not been made public, faces charges of murder and attempted murder in connection with the incident that occurred on Sunday, July 5, according to a statement from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office.
Responding officers found Samantha Baker, 37, with stab wounds, WSFA reported, citing the sheriff's office. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 17-year-old's father, Lance Baker, 46, was taken to a hospital, where he continues to receive treatment.
Sheriff's Office investigators believe the stabbing was sparked by the punishment the teen received, WSFA reported.
A neighbor told AL.com that surveillance cameras captured Lance that night screaming for help outside the home in Daphne.
“And he went from house to house, leaving handprints, with blood everywhere,” neighbor Shawn Scurry told the aforementioned media.
The sheriff's office reported that the teenager was arrested at the scene.
