Who was the singer Adán Rodríguez who was murdered in Sinaloa
The singer was a former member of the group Los Nuevos Rebeldes before starting a solo career in 2025 under the name Adán R.
Regional Mexican music singer José Adán Rodríguez, known as Adán R. and former member of the group Los Nuevos Rebeldes, was shot to death in Culiacán, Sinaloa.
The attack occurred on Sunday night when armed individuals shot at the singer, who was in the garage of his house, in the north of the city, according to the first reports.
The homicide occurs in the midst of the violence crisis that Sinaloa has been experiencing since September 2024, marked by clashes between rival factions of the Sinaloa Cartel, and adds to other attacks registered in recent years against performers of regional Mexican music.
So far, the authorities have not issued official information about the case, about people detained, or the possible motive for the crime; However, local media reported that the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sinaloa has already initiated an investigation.
Rodríguez was a member of Los Nuevos Rebeldes, a regional Mexican group, before starting a solo career in 2025 under the name Adán R.
The singer performed banda music and corridos, one of the most popular styles of regional Mexico, a genre with a growing presence in Mexico and the United States.
The homicide joins other attacks against regional Mexican music performers recorded in recent decades.
Among the best-known cases are the murder of singer Valentín Elizalde in 2006, after a concert in Tamaulipas, and that of Sergio Gómez, vocalist of K-Paz de la Sierra, kidnapped and murdered that same year in Michoacán.
Sinaloa also has a history of attacks against musicians from the Mexican region, including the attack against northern music singer Javier Arturo Rosas in Culiacán in 2015, which left two dead and two injured, including the musician himself.
Several of these artists performed narcocorridos, a regional Mexican subgenre whose lyrics often refer to organized crime groups.
