Senator Enrique Inzunza Cázarez, who faces accusations in the United States for alleged links to drug trafficking, reappeared on social networks to reiterate that he will remain in his position.

The legislator assured that he will continue in the Senate of the Republic until the end of his term in 2030, thereby ruling out any possibility of seeking the candidacy for the governorship of Sinaloa in the 2027 elections.

Through a public message, the senator from the Morena party put an end to the versions that placed him among the possible candidates to succeed the current state government.

Inzunza pointed out that his commitment is to comply with the representation that the citizens of Sinaloa gave him at the polls.

The announcement occurs in the midst of the controversy generated by the accusations of US authorities, who accuse him of alleged links to drug trafficking and possession of weapons.

Faced with these accusations, the senator reiterated that he will not request leave or resign from his position, while rejecting the accusations and maintaining that he will prove his innocence.

On April 29, the case was made public in the United States against Enrique Inzunza and nine other Sinaloa officials. Since then, the senator remains in his home state without offering statements about these allegations.

Inzunza affirmed that he will honor the mandate for which he was elected and that he will respond to the accusations from the exercise of his legislative functions. On several occasions he has described the accusations against him as false and unsubstantiated.
