Mother and stepfather of missing Oklahoma boy arrested for alleged child abuse
As the investigation progresses, an intense search continues to find the whereabouts of the minor, whose disappearance was classified as suspicious
Oklahoma authorities arrested the mother and stepfather of Ryan Davis, a 12-year-old boy missing since January 2, for alleged child abuse and sexual abuse. While the investigation continues, an intense search is underway to find the missing boy, whose disappearance has been classified as suspicious.
A disappearance under investigation
Ryan Davis, 12, was last seen on January 2 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) classified his disappearance as “suspicious” and issued a missing child alert as efforts to locate him intensified. The boy, also known as RJ or Ryker, was last seen walking around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth Street and Grand Avenue, about 25 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. Arrests for alleged child abuse: After joining the investigation, state agents arrested the boy's mother, Kimberly Cole, and his stepfather, George Cole, on Wednesday night on charges of child abuse, child sexual abuse, and conspiracy, according to OSBI. “During interviews, it was determined that the child was apparently harmed while living with these two adults,” said OSBI spokesman Hunter McKee during a press conference. Authorities executed search warrants before proceeding with the arrests. Although no formal charges have been filed so far, both remain in custody at the Caddo County Jail.
“It was not a safe environment”
Authorities declined to offer specific details about the alleged abuse while charges are being formalized, but stressed that the home environment was not safe for the child.
“It’s extremely sad. This is a horrific case for everyone involved,” McKee stated.
Chickasha Police Chief Goebel Music,She stated that the main objective is to locate the boy and ensure his safety: “We want to find him, provide him with the medical care he needs, and assure him that he will not return to that environment.” Intensive Search and Reward: The search for Ryan continues urgently. The OSBI announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts and safe return. The search involves drones, specialized dogs, and multiple law enforcement agencies, with a focus on a rural area between Caddo and Grady counties. Authorities say they continue to receive leads, although they have not yet been able to locate the boy. “We believe he is alive and are doing everything we can to find him,” McKee stated. Appeal to the community: The OSBI is asking Chickasha residents to review private and commercial security camera footage that may have captured relevant movements on the night of the disappearance. Ryan is approximately 4 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 86 pounds, has blond hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a red and black plaid shirt, dark jeans, and brown steel-toed boots.
