With this deployment the Mexican Navy achieved the fourth seizure of illicit substances at sea in one week
Navy Secretary personnel intercepted a smaller boat with three outboard motors in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, off the coasts of the state of Guerrero.
As a result, they detained two people of foreign nationality and confiscated 26 packages with cocaine.
The action was part of intelligence and investigation work that allowed maritime monitoring of the vessel from 361 thousand the nautical to the south-southwest of Acapulco, Guerrero, until their arrival on land on the coasts of Arroyo Seco, in the municipality of Petatlán.
With this coordinated deployment of surface, air and land units, naval personnel achieved the fourth seizure of illicit substances in the sea in a week, which represents a significant affectation to the operations of criminal groups dedicated to drug trafficking.
In that sense, the Secretary of the Navy highlighted that these seizures add to the more than 65.5 tons of cocaine seized in maritime operations during the present federal administration.
The detained persons and whatever was seized were placed at the disposal of the competent authority in the Eighth Naval Region, in Acapulco, Guerrero, where an investigation will begin to determine which criminal group they belong to.
The Mexican Pacific region continues to be one of the main routes used by criminal groups for the transportation of cocaine shipments from South America to national territory and the United States.
