The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a motion to reinstate and increase the reward to $85,000 for information leading to the cold case of a 4-year-old Hispanic boy that occurred in 2016.

Salvador “Chavita” Esparza, who lived in Monrovia, was in Altadena visiting family and friends when a shooting occurred in front of the home, in the 300 block of West Figueroa Drive, at approximately 10:40 p.m. from July 5, 2026.

Originally, county supervisors offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the person responsible for the shooting, an incentive that increased to $25,000 in 2021.
