South American thieves arrested in police operation in Los Angeles
The suspects attempted to flee to a neighboring apartment when Burbank police arrived; stolen merchandise, jewelry, and cash were found at the scene.
About six people linked to a gang of South American thieves were arrested after some of the suspects failed in their attempt to escape by using a rope between two seventh-floor balconies near downtown Los Angeles.
The Burbank Police Department (BPD) posted on social media that the investigation into the gang began in June after a home burglary, without mentioning the date or exact location where that incident occurred.
According to the BPD, its detectives and deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department (SBSD) served a search warrant related to the case at an apartment building located near downtown Los Angeles, according to photos released by police.
