More than two years after the murder of two young people in Indianapolis, Indiana, authorities announced the arrest of a man accused of having participated in the attack that occurred when the victims returned from a night out.

The victims were Olivia Katherine Brown, 24, and Darian Jamar Wiley, 27.

The victims were attacked as they returned to their vehicles.

According to the investigation, the events occurred on May 6, 2023 in the vicinity of 21st Street, in Indianapolis.

Brown and Wiley had been out together that night. After parking near Wiley's home, he walked Brown to his car.

Surveillance videos cited by local media show that two people began following the couple as they walked down the street.

A neighbor stated that the suspects were advancing quickly behind them and, seconds later, gunshots were heard.

According to the investigation, Wiley fell to the ground after being shot and died at the scene.

Brown managed to reach her vehicle and attempted to escape, but was also hit by gunfire and died.

The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect

For almost two years, relatives of both victims waited for progress in the investigation.

Brown's sister, Hannah Carter, previously expressed that the uncertainty had been especially difficult for the family, feeling that the case remained without justice and that the passage of time caused the victims to be forgotten.

This week, authorities announced the arrest of Brimmage, although at the moment they have not reported whether there is a second suspect related to the crime.

The accused is also investigated for other crimes

The probable cause statement presented by the prosecution indicates that Brimmage is also suspected of having participated in other violent events that occurred on dates close to the double homicide.

Those accusations include allegedly driving the vehicle used to escape another shooting that occurred less than a day after the murders, as well as setting fire to a home and a car and shooting at people who were trying to flee.

According to local media, Brimmage is already serving a sentence after previously pleading guilty to arson and reckless conduct in relation to those events.

Relatives remember the victims

Olivia Brown worked as a therapist and, according to her obituary, enjoyed reading, cooking, cats, traveling, exercising and helping other people.

For his part, Darian Wiley was remembered by his family and friends for his passion for music, golf and for his cheerful personality.

“He always managed to make those around him laugh,” his obituary notes.

The judicial process against Brimmage continues while the authorities keep the investigation into the double homicide open.
