Today, on behalf of UNICEF India, Bollywood's finest actor Ayushmann Khurrana has been announced as the National Ambassador. National Award-winning star Ayushmann Khurrana has joined hands with UNICEF to promote every child's voice and agency in the decisions they make while ensuring their right to live, thrive and be protected. 

During the conference, Ayushmann Khurrana said that it is indeed a great honor to take forward my advocacy for the rights of children as the National Ambassador of UNICEF India. I am very passionate about the issues facing children and adolescents in India. As a UNICEF Celebrity Advocate, I have interacted with children and spoken about internet safety, cyberbullying, mental health and gender equality. In this new role with UNICEF, I will be a strong voice for children's rights, especially on the issues that affect them most. 

Welcoming Ayushmann Khurrana as the National Ambassador for Children's Rights, UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey said, “I am delighted to welcome Ayushmann Khurrana as the National Ambassador of UNICEF India. Ayushmann's strong commitment in the last two years as a UNICEF Celebrity Advocate has helped grow and drive the work of protecting the rights of children. He is one of India's biggest film stars and we are excited that he is using his voice to challenge harmful social and gender stereotypes by standing up for children. It is a voice that combines sensitivity and passion for the work of UNICEF. We are committed to the most urgent child rights issues of our time – ending violence.

Let us tell you that in the year 2020, Ayushmann Khurrana was made the celebrity advocate of UNICEF India to advocate for ending violence against children and comprehensive child rights agenda. Her well-rounded participation in World Child Day, International Women's Day, International Day of the Girl Child, World Day Against Child Labor and Safer Internet Day outlines children's causes, adding her voice and influence. Recently, on the occasion of World Children's Day 2022, along with Sachin Tendulkar, Regional Ambassador for UNICEF South Asia , and girls and boys participating from India, focused on inclusiveness and non-discrimination through gender inclusive sports.
