In the year 2019, Ekta Kapoor had announced the production of KTina, a film directed by Ashima Chhibber. Initially Disha Patani was selected to play the lead role in the film. But this project reportedly went off the radar during the lockdown. Now there are reports that Disha Patani has been dropped from this film. According to a new report in Bollywood Hungama, Disha Patani has been dropped from the project due to her "unprofessionalism". A source close to the production said that Disha had attended several pre-production meetings in 2019, but during this time the pandemic and the lockdown brought everything to a halt.

Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying, "After the lockdown, many issues started cropping up between the lead actress (Disha Patani) and the producers. Even during the shoot, there was a dispute between Disha and Balaji Motion Pictures regarding the creative aspects. From creative differences to direction, more trouble increased.

The source further added that it was becoming difficult for Ekta Kapoor and Disha Patani to be on the same page. Now that KTina is based on the real life of Ekta Kapoor, she was very attached to the project and wanted everything to be perfect. With the less cordial behavior of the female lead, Ekta had no option but to remove and sack Disha."

Ekta Kapoor is reportedly planning to approach Shraddha Kapoor and Tara Sutaria for the lead roles. The source said, “Talks are on with both of them to replace Disha Patani. Due to this change, the filming has come to a halt and will resume after the cast changes.” Significantly, KTina will present the story of a small town Punjabi girl who herself is based on Ekta's choice.
