Greeicy revealed that she almost lost the opportunity to collaborate on Karol G's new album
The singer from Cali sings with “La Bichota” on the song “Amiga mia”, which is part of Tropicoqueta, her fifth studio album
Greeicy is one of the artists who collaborated with Karol G on her new album Tropicoqueta, but the singer almost lost the opportunity to sing with “La Bichota”.
In a recent interview with the digital media Basico, the singer of “Amantes” said that Karol G had tried unsuccessfully to contact her to invite her to sing with her on a song from her new album.
One day, Ovy On The Drums, Karol G's producer, called her husband Mike Bahía to tell him that the “Provenza” singer was looking for Greeicy to invite her to collaborate on her new album.
By chance, Mike Bahía answered the call in loud voice and Greeicy overheard the conversation. Excited, she sent Karol G a message to talk via video call.
“I answered and said, 'Oh, what a shame I didn't look at your cell phone. Let me know if you're around and I'll give you a call,'” Greeicy wrote to Karol G.
Around 6 pm, Karol G called the singer to make the formal invitation. “I answered, 'Hey, queen,' and he said, 'I have a song that I feel is the song for both of us. The only thing is that I already submitted my album and I don't know if it's like the disposition, the time to run.'”
Without hesitation, Greeicy tells him she's interested. “'Are you telling me if I'm willing to run? I'm about to throw myself off the balcony right now' (...) The next day I actually went to his house. And we recorded it in his studio,” she said excitedly.
Greeicy collaborates with Karol G on her song “Amiga mia,” a bachata about heartbreak.
Regarding the song, Greeicy said that it has a powerful message, ideal for those who are in a toxic relationship and want to get out of it.
"I feel like that song has a really powerful message for women. I feel like a lot of times my friends don't know how to tell you that man isn't good for you because I can tell things from the outside that you can't, but if you don't have the words, send it to my friend directly through the chat," she said.
This Friday, Karol G released Tropicoqueta, Her fifth studio album takes her on a journey through Latin America through rhythms such as merengue, bachata, mambo and mariachi.
