Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar-winning actress in 2013, will receive the honorary 'Donostia' award for her lifetime achievement at the next edition of the San Sebastian Film Festival, which this year will take place from September 19 to 27.
According to a statement issued by the organization, the presentation of the distinguished award will take place on September 26 at the San Sebastian Convention Center, after the special screening of the film “Die My Love,” starring and produced by the actress.
“The San Sebastian Film Festival will dedicate one of the Donostia Awards in its 73rd edition to recognizing the talent of Jennifer Lawrence, one of the most influential actresses of our time,” the announcement reads.
It was also announced that the screening of “Die My Love” will be attended by a first-class cast that includes Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte and Sissy Spacek.
This participation marks the return of director Lynne Ramsay, who has been in charge of films such as “Ratcatcher,” “Morvern,” “We Need to Talk About Kevin” and “You Were Never Really Here,” to the San Sebastian Film Festival. Sebastian, where she won the FIPRESCI Prize in 2002.
Jennifer Lawrence's international fame came in 2012, when she starred in "The Hunger Games," where she played the character 'Katnisse Everdeen'. This adaptation of the successful novel of the same name became a saga of four feature films.
Since then, the famous actress has had the opportunity to participate in productions such as "Don't Look Up," "American Hustle," "Winter's Bone," and "Joy," the latter three of which earned her a nomination for 'Best Actress' by the Academy. However, it would be the film "Silver Linings Playbook" that made her the youngest actress to take home this statuette, at just 22 years old.
