Kelly Clarkson postpones her residency in Las Vegas and says she is devastated
Through her Instagram account, the star said she felt frustrated for not being able to meet her fans
The renowned singer and winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, announced the postponement of the first two concerts of her Studio Sessions residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, initially scheduled for this weekend. In an emotional Instagram post, the artist explained that the decision was due to vocal issues caused by intense rehearsals and preparation for the show.
In her post, Clarkson expressed her frustration at not being able to meet her fans' expectations: We have been working 24/7 to make the studio sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans, she wrote. I am devastated to have to postpone the opening night and tomorrow at Caesars.
The singer of hits like 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Stronger' detailed that her voice was not in optimal condition to deliver a high-quality show.
"The preparation and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the concerts to be perfect for you all and I need to protect myself from serious damage," she explained. Therefore, she decided to take an extra week off to recover and ensure a memorable show.
Statement from the venue after cancellation
Following the announcement, Caesars Palace issued a statement supporting the artist: “Kelly is an unparalleled artist who has created an extraordinary new show for the Colosseum,” the venue said.
“We are confident that, when she recovers, fans will enjoy an incredible and intimate performance from one of the most distinguished voices of this generation.”
Attendees affected by the cancellation have two options: request a refund or keep their tickets for the new dates, which have not yet been announced. The Studio Sessions residency currently has 16 shows scheduled between July, August and November.
This is not the first time Kelly Clarkson has done a residency in Las Vegas. In 2023, she presented 'Chemistry: An Intimate Evening With Kelly Clarkson', a success that included 12 concerts and two additional performances in early 2024. The singer originally had another residency planned, Invincible, in 2020, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Clarkson promises that her new show will be unforgettable: “The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are exceptional, and I want everyone to hit the ground running,” she said. “I can’t wait to come back next weekend and show you what we’ve been working on.”
